The goal of LAEP is to equip Latino employees in the wine and grape industry with the technical expertise that will allow them to advance and flourish within their profession. This course is designed for Latino employees in the field of viticulture. Taught in Spanish, the course emphasizes technical English wine terminology. The curriculum introduces students to the “whys” of the many production and management practices of wine grapes and their juices. Topics include wine industry historical perspectives, vine physiology, canopy management, soils, irrigation, nutrition, thinning, harvest, wine, marketing, and vineyard management. Students participate in at least one industry field trip.
