Sustainable WA Technical Committee Launches 2025–2026 Standard Review
Sustainable WA is pleased to announce the launch of our 2025–2026 Standard Review cycle and the kickoff meeting of our Technical Committee. We are extremely fortunate to have a group of respected experts contributing their time, insight, and real-world experience to guide this work.
The 2025–2026 Technical committee brings together viticulture researchers, growers, technical specialists, and industry professionals who collectively represent the breadth of Washington’s wine industry: Chad Steiner, David James, Don Phelps, Lenora Jones, Markus Keller, Michelle M. Moyer, Parker Fannin, Serena Roberge-Gordon and Stevie-Jean Bergen.
A core part of the committee’s review process includes evaluating grower feedback from the 2025 certification season, as well as areas flagged by our auditor and program manager. These insights help us identify where clarification, improvement, or restructuring may be necessary to support smoother certification, stronger adoption, and better alignment with industry best practices.
Maintaining a rigorous, transparent, and high-quality standard is essential for the credibility of Sustainable WA and the long-term competitiveness of Washington wine. Work will continue throughout the winter with a final updates presented before the 2027 season. We are grateful for the commitment of our Technical Committee members and look forward to sharing updates as this work progresses.
