Industry News From D.C.
A government shutdown is likely starting October 1, 2025, which could delay COLA approvals. The Senate passed a “minibus” with three appropriations bills, now awaiting resolution. Tariffs on EU goods remain at 15%, though cork was exempted September 1. Courts ruled many tariffs illegal, with the Supreme Court set to review in November. The de minimis exemption on imports under $800 ended August 29, requiring tariffs on small online purchases. The TTB will stop issuing paper checks after September 30, moving entirely to electronic payments.
